Things You're Dying to Know about S. J. Gordon

How long have you been writing?  What is your background?

There has been writing in my life since I was able to hold a writing implement.  Writing as a career, however, is relatively recent.  After years as a zookeeper, science teacher, and full-time mom, I’ve moved to writing.  In the past few years, I’ve written a number of short stories (links to some on the “Work” page) and I’m currently working on the upcoming Ellen Keely Mysteries.  Stay tuned for information.

 

What about your family?

One husband, one son.  Both very patient with my creative moods.

 

Pets?

Bentley – yellow sided Green Cheek Conure

Valentine – red bronze canary

 

So, who is in charge around your house?

Valentine.  No question.  She’s an over-achiever and though she is female (she laid eggs last spring, so we’re really sure about this), she sings almost as well as any territorial male.  This bird weighs in at 24 grams but she’s hard core and takes no guff.  Do.  Not.  Mess.  With.  Her.  You won’t win.

 

What are you really into?

I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain…  Not really.  Hoo-boy.  This is a big list.  Music, fiber clay, yarn arts, lots and lots of reading, mysteries – especially cozies and lighter suspense, musicals, period dramas with great costuming, ‘60s and ’70 sitcom reruns… We’d better stop there.

 

What are you really NOT into?

Blood and gore.  Can’t deal with it.  I don’t do horror stories and movies, true crime television, or human medical reality television.  I’m fine with vet shows but don’t come at me with any popping or plastic surgery or anything on humans.  Bleh.
